What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

a new name to me but clearly not if you live in Australia. Plenty of samples on myspace and sounds good. What do you think?

I might as well make it an Astor night.
Both discs are on Nonesuch.

The "American Clavé" label has some nice Astor (adepts) CD's as well. Kip Hanrahan, just to name one...
Myself having fun with "Lampo" - a late release of Gianmaria Testa

By Jim:-
My copy (from the library) has the same cover as yours I just copied that one from SlothRadio I didn't realise it was different.
Still a great CD though.
quote:How come my copy is different to yours. I got mine from the USA when it was released. Maybe that's why the cover is not the same.

Down to the Bone have a 'sound' which they seem to stick with. If you like one piece of work you should like other CD's. I do find they sometimes seem locked in a somewhat repetative groove but like them nevertheless.

Thanks Stefan.
Never heard of American Clave before. I will have to investigate this neglected label.

Watch out Droo!
If you are entering Stefan's influence zone and music recommendations, prepare yourself to end up starving and broke, just like I did trying to follow his kind suggestions...
Now listening to The Montreal Tapes:

Wonderful album. Cake made by "Lets be 'aving you" Delia Smith. Wonder what it tasted like?
