What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Geoff,

I was playing the A.P pressing of the 'Chet' LP last night - it's one of my favourite late night jazz albums and that particular pressing has a beautiful sound- can't listen to my old CD version now as it sounds like it's mising something...
Von....got to agree. I keep trying to find another Chet album that is as excellent. I have quite a few and while they are pretty good pressings none quite has the tactile depth and quality of soloing from all concerned this one does.

Listened again and last nights gig was great. As well as his full band (Tomer, Seffy and Eran from Blackfield plus Iain Archer from Snow Patrol and the lovely and talented Alex on vocals), special guests were Mike Garson and Steven Wilson.

Now listening to Blackfield on MySpace.

Any good VZ?

Diccus

Hi Discuss,

I only got this today on recommendation. Have to say its caught my ear from the first track. Layered Americana/ alt. country, sort of a slightly lusher Iron& wine, although the lead singers voice is one of those you'll love or hate. I think it's going to be a grower, give me a few more days with it and I'll give you a more in-depth verdict
Regards
VZ
