What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Tango: Zero Hour
Listened to it twice in the car creeping through heavy snow.
Very powerful music with chiseled pace contrasted by some slower and very delicate passages.
A perfect disc for the person who wants to evaluate his/her I/C cable, wether it is a Red Dawn, a Blue Heaven or just a Black Hell..
Huw & Stefan, to your attention.

The complete vinyl Gomez, end-to-end, and at some volume, whilst my lot are out for the evening (and wafting the fumes of takeaway Vindaloo about the place, like Jerry in the Good Life)

I've got a Cream box set called Those Were The Days - it has all the albums re-mastered on it. They have put all the studio tracks on the first 2 CDs and all the live tracks on the second 2 CDs. I like all four CDs, but have been playing the tracks as they were on the original albums. Surely, Cream was the finest 4 hours for these three great musicians - hadn't realised GB and JB detested each other until I read the book.

Stefan,
That is exactly what I am playing now for a childhood friend who came from the old country to stay with us over the weekend. He loves it.

What do you make of that Stefan? After two listens, I'm a tad underwhelmed. A couple of tracks stood out, but the rest is a blur. Very pleasant, but not a great CD, is the verdict so far.

It's a grower - keep playing it. It has a beautiful atmosphere and put's me in a zone I like. Of the hundreds of disc I bought last year, this came close to the top for me.
