What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Marcin Wasilewski Trio - Lontano (with special guest, Tomasz Stanko).

The Japaneese Vinyl Replica packaging is all very nice and the music holds up very well but this cd has been eningeered too 'LOUD' for it's own good. This is a lost opertunity, i thought the Japaneese knew how to make cd's sound good... although the compression could actually be worse it's a shame this cd doesn't have that depth of sound-quality that we know is there for the taking, and this effort doesn't fix my craving... shame : (

Oh heck, this is gorgeous too - and also ordered. Heck you can tell it's just after payday.

Note Can folk stop posting gorgeous music of which I know nothing as it's damaging my bank account - but improving the quality of my life. Smile

Nic, I think you need this in your life if you haven't already Smile

Personally I think it is ok, better than the originals which I found bass light. Though I haven't heard an early Japanese.

It's fabulous album.

Sorry Nic, here's another one Eek

It is now on my buy list. I notice her myspace songs are mainly from a 10" vinyl which is limited to 500 copies.

Jeff knowing how you are into Michael Stanley - do you want a copy of a direct feed from the soundboard show. It's a Cleveland show 27/12/03.

My email address is m.leemacpherson@tesco.net.

Thanks Ewen, I have sent you mail. Got his two most recent albums, one is all cover songs, and enjoying them alot.

Can you believe Michael Stanley covering a Matthew Ryan song ? Few other people know of these guys but they obviously know of each other. And a Wichi Tai Toe/Sweet Jane that is masterful.

Thanks again for your kindness.

Hello ewemon, maybe you have a different cd remastered version?..
so maybe it's better than this JVR package (dated @2006) i recently purchased from playdot...?
I agree the album is fab, but i don't like having to leave my volume knob below the 8 o'clock position because of the engineering hair-trigger-volume-knob-head trend in loudness that takes all the fun out of the music.
Perhaps i should go back to buying vinyl and invest in another LP12...? : >

Hi nymph, it is the same copy you have. The Japanese mini LP. I lost an auction for a very early Japanese disc the other day. But I will hunt one down eventually.

By the way I agree with you about the knob head etc
