What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Ah the firat "jazz" album I bought back in the 80's. It seemed so challenging at first now it is so easy and light but still a mighty fine record.

A wet Sunday in Sydney. Perfect for listening to lots of music.

A little Bossa Nova with lots of lovely acoustic guitar and double bass. Excellent

The first Standards trio recording sessions in a box set. The sessions produced the three CD's Standards Vol 1, Standards Vol 2 and Changes

I am in the process of comparing the new Mofi Santana- s/t disc against what is a flat transfer of the original disc, the Mastersound version and I know sounds excellent.

And the exact same problem here too

Never a week seems to go by at my home without a CD from someone I've never heard of but taken a chance on dropping onto my doormat

Picked this up as a souvenir in the Vondelpark in Amsterdam a few years back when they were playing live. Not usually my type of music (for those who have seen The Mighty Boosh, it's a bit "Howard Moon" - for those who haven't there is a lot of slap bass!) but it was such a good live performance I had to buy it and listening to it always takes me back to that beautiful summer's day. Excellent guest vocalist Izaline Calister originally from CuraƧao as well.
