What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Hi ROTF

I'm not so sure myself; it does not get airing round here very often!

Haim, do you have this? Mark, judging by some earlier posts you might like this as well.

Hello Huwge

Shame that this is not available anymore. I have a record of Ruggiero Ricci playing the Dvorak violin concerto and I think Albert Einstein was right.

ELO - Face The Music (Remastered) [Extra Tracks]

Special Edition!
3 Unreleased tracks
Digitally Remastered
Rare and unseen Photographs ( a hair and beard fest! : )
New sleeve notes by Jeff Lynne

Released 1975... a great album... used to play the vinyl LP years ago on rega planner
which was far more enjoyable that this digitally remonstered cd with 4 extra tacks nailed in for good measure.
That chair on the sleeve-cover should be used for dispensing with loudness engineers ; )

Kirk Whalum:Roundtrip*

...and then

Michel Camilo: Live at the Blue Note
Both on CD.
My Sondek is completely useless when it comes to CDs.

* I bought this CD for the tune called *Ruby Ruby Ruby* which I still prefer his original take on the vinyl. On the new take, Earl Klugh is featured but much too much on a safe side.

"This album encompasses much of the softer dynamic of Nigel and Carolyn's music. The tracks range from Nigel's delicate flute pieces and Carolyn's graceful and shadowy songs through to the strong tribal acoustic rhythms and unusual chants. The album is a strange and beautiful entanglement of soul-filled melodies and songs drawn from medieval, faerie and ancient pagan worlds.
Tracks include.... Be wary of lovers who come from the Greenwood, Mudhead Clowns, Strange enough Deep enough, Summer Blessing, The Lonesome Boatman and The Riven Stone.
Instruments include wooden flutes, traditional whistles, voice, frame drum, djembe, dulcimer, piano, keyboards and percussion.
Guest musicians; Brian Abbott on guitar and Domenic DeCicco (from Praying for the Rain) with additional vocals".

Hi Haim - lovely album, that - though best used sparingly, in my experience.

Here, the Keith Jarrett revival continues with a rare outing for:

Jarrett's groans are especially disconcerting this morning, as I have a dental appointment in an hour!
