What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Miles Smiles,

A friend of mine recommended this album to me. I like it a lot. It has a sort of female Richard Bona feel to it if that makes sense....

... was looking at buying it today at my record store, maybe the next time.

Lontano, think this is one of your favourites too.

The six disc boxset is exceptional. Six sets over three nights at the Blue Note in New York. I would have loved to have been there.....

Better listen to this a bit more its the concert next month.. Though I quite enjoy the songs they have a degree of sameness about them, maybe its his voice or the arrangement/style of guitars the band use and the production.

An utter classic with an inspirational lifting contribution from the Lerxt just to top it off. Hope they fit in another Uk mini tour after the Oceanic dates. They have had at least two weeks off now Smile

Geoff,...Thought that it was only me on the forum that liked Acoustic Alchemy! I have Reference Point, Positive Thinking, Natural Elements, The Beautiful Game and AArt, but not these two. Like the idea of a live album from St Lucia though, are they worth getting?
Regards...Nic
Nic....I think anything by them is worth getting. The St Lucia one is well recorded with a non intrusive and attentive audience and has some nice slightly 'show offy' but nevertheless musically great numbers. It is also nice to hear an english voice annoucing on the record "This way" is quite recent and reflects the maturing of the band. Obviously they make sure the formula attracts but it has depth. Recently I have been listening again to a couple of others which are good plus one of the ones you do have.

I guess that means the release dates were different and you haven't got it yet? Picked it up this a.m. at Starbucks when getting the local paper and a pastry for the wife.

Sounds good on first listen, contributions from Brain Bottrell and Jeff Trott, both of whom have contributed to her previous success.
