What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

No, haven't bought a new jazz disc in a long time - that needs to be corrected soon. I will note, again, your recommend - I do have a particular fondness for KB.

All this talk of Hendrix in the other thead. Looks like Ewemon is going to cost me more cash, as I have to look for a copy of "In the West".

yes I wish he would sing it live more rather than constantly dusting off neverland and easter (both great songs but I think Angelinas an absolute ignored classic.. though on the forums its a hated track for some reason)

Used to have a few Rainer albums DenisA but couldn't sit down and listen to a whole disc. Mind you what I could listen to was amazing.

Ewen,

I now what you mean, probably best in short bursts or favourite tracks.

I also have Rainer Live at the Performance Center. Both albums are an emotional experience, but uplifting at the same time.

For those who like Ry Cooder on Dobro and National Steel, try these. If you don't want to be seen shedding a tear, play at night with no lights and the headphones on.

Egberto Gismonte, Charlie Haden & Jan Garbarek.

Recommended by Adrian. Thanks again.

Is there still place for another recommendation on top of Adrian's ? If yes - here's mine. One of my all times favorites...

Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun

Listeneing now I think the tracks How Is Your Life Today; The Rest Will Flow; Where We Would Be & Feel so Low are pointers to Blackfield. Not a duff track here me thinks.
