What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Thanks Haim,
I imagine it is tough with the snow but for some reason, summer in Sydney is passing us by. This time last year it was just nothing but drought. This year it has been nothing but rain and loads and loads of it - weather for sitting in and listening to music. The headline in the paper this morning is "rain for two more months"...I am off to buy some flippers.

Andy Sheppard Introductions in the Dark from 1989.

I have not played this little gem in years. Andy Sheppard is a superb saxophonist who has just recorded a new CD on ECM Records with Arild Andersen, Eivind Aarset and John Paricelli. I eagerly await a late 2008 release for this.
Indeed!

I'll be picking up that Lizz Wright as soon as it's out here. I have her other two and enjoy them very much.

Last night................... Just arrived and on first listen very impressed.
Then the marvellous 'Sky of Honey' from...........................
then the absolutely claustrophobic..................................
and finally a cd that I played to death about 5 years ago but has lost it's allure to me now as my life has moved on. The quieter piano based tracks still do it for me but the guitar histrionics jar.................................

No-Man - Together We're Stranger
Having just played Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet for the umpteenth time this week, I am finishing off the weekend laying in the dark with this as loud as the system will play. Awesome. Highly recommended.
