What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Maybe need to give it a listen. I went off Herbie after going to watch him and the Headhunters. Most boring gig ever. The drummer did a 10 minute solo in the middle of one song. Nearly fell asleep.
It is a good CD and I am pleased to see that such a CD could get a Grammy for Best Album. There were other albums I preferred last year but this was in the top 10%.
So after this artistic high, the worst musical event for me last year was Herbie live with his Headhunters style band. A waste of an evening.
God that means he hasn't improved any then as I saw him in the late '70's.

My pleasure Miles Smiles. I think it is an outstanding disc. I saw them play it live in Brighton once which was equally good. A good one for ECM jazz piano trio fans

Not bad at all worm. Love the crunchy guitar in Stevie Nix. Think I maybe like Boys and Girls better but definitely worth buying.

Stefan - what is it? Hard to read exactly and I definitely have not heard it. Can you tell us more and what you like about it?
Lontano
Sorry, I missed this one, Lontano: It's Jordi Savall and the usual suspects (his wife, his daughter, his orchestra) playing music that could have been played alongside St. Javier's travels (Spain, France, Africa, India, China, Japan) in the middle ages.
Amazon has this

It has been mentioned before, here, but it's worth re-mentioning (just like Basia...) that this 14 CD box set for only 20 EUR is an absolut GEM and worth every cent and more. Only heard 4, so far, but absoltely like this !
cheers
