What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Sunny day number two in the last seventeen days.
Bennie Maupin plays the bass clarinet, sax, alto flute and piano. The rest of his ensemble does bass, drums and percussion.
Stefan & Adrian, thanks for the recommend.

Haim,
Inspired by you I bought the very same CD yesterday. Saw it when I was browsing in my favourite specialist music store here in Sydney. It is a very good CD and Sacha only plays the guitar - no singing!

Haim - it is all very nice. Jazz vocals, mellow , easy etc. More like late night in Paris. I do prefer the Afternoon CD though.

Listening to this on SACD, the CD layer and I have got to say this is probably one of the best sounding recordings I have ever heard. The piano sounds phenomenal and to think it was recorded back in the early 70's. So impressive.

Whats that like on the MOFI disc. I don't have an SACD player so I would be intrested in what you think of the redbook layer sound.

I think it is a very good sound. It's the first MFSL I have bought and am impressed. I also bought the MFSL Modern Cool as well and when I got home found I already had the regular redbook of it. So tomorrow (getting towards end of the day down under) I will compare the original redbook and the MFSL version. Will report back.
