What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Take it you like it Bob Smile Smile

Must say it is great to see such a diverse range of music listened to by members and a big thanks to anyone who has pointed me in the way of a new artist.

Safe take! Smile He has successfully put together the best of his solo and Husker Du work with his electronic dalliances.

I feel sure I got early on a previous Sunday morning and listened to these three records, but perhaps I imagined it - still this is excellent music.
No man it did me good to tell the world . My choice to post about it.
I have had a moment or two since the post.
I think its done me some good.
I have White Ladder on now.
I am a bit wet but in a good way.
Thanks Jeff Cool
I deserve no thanks, but am pleased if returning to DG's music can possibly bring you some comfort whilst always mindful of the great loss.

Dave Matthews has written what I think is a great song called "Gravedigger". The key lyric, a most beautiful thought, is

"Gravedigger, when you dig my grave, dig it shallow, so that I can feel the rain".

An artist I mentioned yesterday, Eric Wood, is a terrific songwriter.

Munch, perhaps we can borrow a song title of his, and when you hear the DG song that is so poignant to you, you can ultimately think of the DG song as something positive, a ....

"Letter From The Earth".

Kindest regards, Munch

Ewemon,

Ok I've been listening to the regular redbook version and the MOFI version. I also did the wife test on it - an independent view - and we have come to a conclusion.

Firstly they both sound very good indeed. The regular redbook is a little louder, the vocals a touch more forward but sounds very good.

The MOFI version is a little more relaxed, smoother, more refined, less forward vocals but better defined bass. Overall a nicer listen and the one I would want to keep of the two of them.

Thanks for that. Another addition to my buying list.

This is really a fantasic disc. If you like acoustic blues with heavy african influences buy this disc. Also this is one of very few cds that sounds like analogue, superb.
