What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)

Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005

Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.

So, what are you listening to right now?

Hi Haim!
Very nice LP sleeve you have there.
As i was writing to Wolf i'm trying to rebuild my collection and seriously thinking of getting a good turntable.
One thing i know: someone around the world is listening to my old LPs and surely wondering who's the crazy fellow who sold them!

All right boys!

Tomorrow morning i'm in town and see what's on.
I hope to get something interesting, but have to slow down.
I've already spent about 200 euros in 3 days on cd on the net!
I always keep a hand on the handbrake!
I must!

Thanks for ideas!

Teddy Thompson's Separate Ways, definetly a grower, sounds like his old man might be doing some of the guitar work, too boot.

On further listening, this is brilliant in it's own right, irrespective of who his dad might be.

A bit of vinyl from '78 that is completely different to everything else I was buying at the time!

Every now and then I come back to this to no avail. I find it an album of what might have been if it had been a first take one. Over produced and dead to my ears. (I like Hope though)

Are you enjoying it? The 27th is quite a serious piece, I think, but the 19th is joy and sunlight, and warmth!

Thanks for posting this, Ian.

All the best from Fredrik

This record is one of those which open a window on the many possible sources influencing music from the very first papers to the last "charts".
A travel that touch arabian music, passing by Ireland, Scotland, midage Italy.
A big river that shows all its tributaries.

Grazie Gianluigi,
I'm italian too...
Big Grin

The mosaic edition of Byrd Adams is a bit expensive and almost out of print but in
the remastering editions by Rudy Van Gelder
of the classic blue note catalog you'll find
great albums at an affordable cost...
And great sound too!
