What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Another quiet hour or two of getting acquainted with these excellent symphonies. Full of invention and variety.

Having played the Haydn London Symphonies I find myself picking this up next from the racks without noticing the connection - the (my?) unconscious is a funny thing..

It's the new release from Porcupine Tree - We Lost the Skyline. It's a live CD recorded at an in-store. There was not enough room for the band to set up all their gear at the store so it ended up being just Steve Wilson and guitar player whilst the rest of the band looked on. More like a Steve Wilson solo album of PT songs

Glad to hear that. It is a grower. I have not spun it myself in a while. I may get it out again soon.

James,
Apologies, in my haste I forgot to put the neccssary details. You can see more info on my PT "We Lost the Skyline" thread. Anyway If you like Porcupine Tree, these alternative takes in the Raw are excellent.

Mate, that is my new favourite ever photo of polly. D*mn I love that girl.
Seen her a coupla times. Brixton Academy is a particularly happy memory
Highly recommended. If you get the chance, take it.
Oh, and to keep "on thread", right this minute Nick Drake five leaves left but my album of the night has been Boxer by The National. Slightly Midlake but more singer songwriter and in an excellent way.
Nice.

The National are certainly my favourite band at the moment, hey but that will probably change next week
