What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Possibly the greatest rock n roll record in my collection including a stunning version of Rolf Harris's Sun Arise and it opens with my favourite ever AC track Caught In A Dream - what great lyrics; he must have had a premonition about the sales people I meet at work:
I need a houseboat
and I need a plane
I need a butler
and a trip to Spain
I need everything
the world owes me
I tell that to myself
and I agree
Rotf
Couldn't agree more, and it still sounds fantastic today. I remember buying this at Virgin in Leeds when they were hardly known. That is until Killer, Billion Dollar Babies and Schools Out came on to the scene.

The Rough Dancer and the Cyclical Night (Tango Apasionado).
A Nonesuch 2000 reissue of a 1986 recording.
Hi Haim - very curious about this one - how does it compare with "Tango: Zero Hour", assuming you've heard that?
Thanks
Droodzilla
Droo,
I have and like all the three Piazzollas on Nonesuch; 'Tango Zero Hour', 'La Camorra' and 'Rough Dancer and the Cyclical Night'.
The one above lacks the sharp edges of the other two and its playing is much more relaxed and at a slower pace.
Regards,
Haim
