What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Superb! I must confess that I like disc 2 better than disc 1, especially "No Mystery". Also, can not wait for the new music from RTF this summer!

Steven Wilson: Cover Version III; The Cure - A Forest
Steven Wilson: Cover Version IV; Momus - The Guitar Lesson (really disturbing, but beautiful). Some background here.
Also one of Porcupine Tree's best songs Buying New Soul
Denis
Denis - are these worth having. I have been thinking about getting them.
Very frustrating, the new PT album has not arrived yet from Burning Shed. Hopefully in tomorrow's post.
Cheers

Hi Lontano,
As you have the Blackfield DVD, CV1 - "Thank You" is already in your possesion. The DVD is the better interpretation BTW. If look at SWHQ here and the 1 Jan 2008 item, you will see a CV1-CV6 Boxset mentioned. It may be worth waiting for this. Once you receive WLTS, this will tell you if you like this stripped down approach. For me it's a no brainer, the CV's are excellent especially "The Guitar Lesson".

Soothing when one has some mindless paperwork to plough through at work.

I prefer it to "Grace".

Gian,
What is the music of Momus like? Does Steven's interpretation sound similar to this song or Momus's style?

Hi Munch,
No. I'm woefully remiss when it comes to checking out DVDs.

Bitstream - One Third Standard Lux.
It's very very odd, electro bleeps, beats and clicks on drawnout backgrounds, sort of crunchy and smooth at the same time.
