What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

"The man with faggot" (i'd write it in my dialect but this is pure dialectic) is the way a friend was used to call the record.
Which still casts a light around in these days of darkness.

I'll just have to leave it playing itself out...

Dear Naim Nymph,
I have that beautifully transfered to CDs from LPs, and now I know it is properly released I shall go and get an official version.
I really enjoy that realisation of it! One to set by Walcha on the organ!

Orchestral music by Aaron Copland conducted by a mixture of Leonard Slatkin and Enrique Batiz. An old CD with no cover art seemingly available that matches what I have.
I love Appalachian Spring, even if it is a little kitsch

Dear Gianluigi,
This recording is one of the really fine achievements in presenting Bach's masterwork. Not exactly Kosher as it is in a fantastic arrangement, but if you ever see it, get it. Alternatively you can have my one copy! It is something to treasure!!!
The very best to you. George

Gianluigi - Yes, she is an extraordinary pianist. This is only her 2nd Beethoven release but it is a very solid performance and ranks among the best - just as with her Schubert and Mozart...
