What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

I did not have my sword with me! I will send you my transfered CDs of it!
It is fantastic. My email is not receiving - several known emails never arrived over the last few days - but when working again, I will send to you.

She's one of my favourite pianists, and yet I really can't seem to get into this album, I just don't think she has the power needed for these sonatas (not a patch on Paul Lewis's recent efforts, in my book).

It's time to leave for work,
My curiosity goes to seventh cloud.
Sorry for beeing intrusive.
Dear Gianluigi,
This recording is one of the really fine achievements in presenting Bach's masterwork. Not exactly Kosher as it is in a fantastic arrangement, but if you ever see it, get it. Alternatively you can have my one copy! It is something to treasure!!!
The very best to you. George
Now playing CD2:
~<>~ Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) ~<>~
[1-3] Die Kunst der Fuge, BMV 1080 (conclusion)
[4-19]Musikalisches Opfer, BWV 1078
Stuttgarter Kammerorchester
Karl Munchinger
Dear George, i have lots of cd's on the shelve that to me, are fantastic, but this has more class and refinement, 'fantastic' just doesn't do this justice but to say it's a musical euphoriant it no understatement! It was silly of me to start playing (a sample) as i got ready for work last night, it caught me quite unawares with it's sublime grip of sheer beauty.
Got to work a little bit late but no one noticed ; )
regards ~

Denis,
Played it on the way home in the car. It did not hit me first time as a stunner rather just OK. Very proggy and deserving of another spin which it will get on the way to work in the morning.
Cheers
Adrian

Originally on Edison cylinder, but I went for the CD version, I know the purist out there will deride my decision on media, but it is enjoyable nonetheless
Some tracks date from 1895 and were not that well recorded, but the sound is very good considering.
