What are you listening to right now? (VOL I)
Posted by: Tam on 06 June 2005
Anyway, to kick things off, I'm currently, and probably for most of the rest of this week, listening to Radio 3's Beethoven Experience. They're doing one of the piano concertos at the moment and (number 2 with Glenn Gould). Anyway, the experience thing probably needs its own thread, but, even on this cheapo radio it's proving fairly enjoyable.
So, what are you listening to right now?

Got Groove Armada's Lovebox Weekender on and it's certainly helping to get my weekend off to a flyer.

On my coffe table in front of the stereo, now: orchestral music by Sibelius (!!), Mozart Piano Concerti (Baremboim, good but not ideal), Complete songs by Faure (Elly Ameling soprano, !!!!), and Andrea Massaria's >Giano<(guitar, bass, drums), a young italian jazz trio.
Excuse me if I go for italian jazz.. but I listen to a lot of Rava, Bollani, Petrella, Sellani these days.

Right, now off to see the Blackfield 'Live' DVD
Denis
Yes - I have played it 4 times today out in the car (plus Deadwing and In Absentia). "Normal" is great and look forward to hearing the full band live version - here's hoping

You can't go wrong in almost every mood with this record. Second time, today. First time, in the car (yes, no more compact cassette tapes, any more)
Stefan
Stefan - you are right about this CD. One of my faves.
Welcome to the 21st Century.

Prove it All Night was the first track Bruce played live at my first Bruce show. June 4th 1981 Wembley Arena. Done another 18 shows since, but that track will always be special

Hi Lontano,
Let me know what you think of Gavin's disk. I'll post my thoghts afterwards. Gary Shaw will be interested, unless he has already purchased.
Denis
Denis,
Played it on the way home in the car. It did not hit me first time as a stunner rather just OK. Very proggy and deserving of another spin which it will get on the way to work in the morning.
Cheers
Adrian
Denis - so what is your verdict on this one?
Cheers

...inspired by me seeing her, two days ago ? Probably not... A remarkable piano player (whom I wasn't aware of, before the SFJazz Collective concert...)

Nick Bärtsch's Ronin - Holon; matches the tension of the storm outside quite admirably

I was at that gig (probably got a tape of it in the attic) , indeed also the other 5 of them at Wembley on that tour and the rest of them bar the 2 Brighton shows. I am a little more diverse these days

Morning Ian!
You will be on the Bach next!
Still am myself. The First Suite from Adolf Busch, live in New York in 1943, when as a German he had the gravest difficulty getting an audience! Toscanini, however attended!
