Clean your ARO for cleaner music

To ARO owners:

If you have had your ARO for some time, especially if you removed the armtop many times, there is a possibility that your bearing cup needs to be cleared.

Here is on eway of doing it. Remove the armtop, and place it in safe position. Note the exact height of the arm pillar, for example by placing a small piece of thape at the point where it meets the pillar base. Then, remove the arm pillar by loosening the allen bolt at the base. Hold the pillar upside down and dip the cup (just the cup!) into some isopropyl alcohol. Carefully wipe off any excess alcohol with a Q-tip.

Replace your arm pillar at exactly the same height it was, without overtightening the allen bolt. Replace your armtop. Put on a record, sit down and listen.

Hope you have the same pleasant surprise I had at that point. Let me know anyway.
