Naim burn in time how much ??

Hello kinda new here, have 202/200/hicap. Wondering how long does it take to reach optimum performance, I have had it about 2 weeks and leave it on all the time, does that help or does it burn in when only signal goes thru with it, and if so does same apply to their cd players, many thanks for any input, Ben r

Hi Ben

Just leave it turned on and play music when you want to. Applies to all the kit.

You should have 75% of the full potential after about a fortnight. It can take up to two months to get 100%.

Ben,

I find my sistem just gets better and better the more you use it.

Just sit back and enjoy.

Yes; NB raises a good point here. Even with a fully run-in permanently powered up system - it seems to improve with 20 to 30 minutes of playing music.

This is probably down to a combination of things warming up electronically and physically - drive units, cartridges etc:

I think that it is at least two months, possibly longer. The equipment has to settle down and then I can begin to settle-in with repeatable expectations.
Also, in my listening sessions, it takes me a few minutes to clear my mind and focus on the music.
Thank goodness that operas have an overture and symphonies take a few minutes to start developing the story.
To sum up, I believe the equipment needs about six weeks of power to settle down, then I need an additional two weeks to figure it out and get used to it.
In each listening session I need a few minutes to clear my mind and just enjoy what I am hearing.
The initial process and the ongoing break-ins are really enjoyable, too.

I have a few CDs that will run in your system very effectivelt. Try Fabric 14 Stacey Pullen at about 10.30 for the duration of the CD, my SBLs rock after that Smile

Have anyone tried power off your sistem and re-run in? I remember someone mention powering down for 24 hours or so and then re-burnin. Since it takes weeks for my CDX2 to arrive, I am wondering if I should power the amps off.

I have certainly found that my MC cartridge "warms up" after half a side or so.

Interesting, my CDP definitely sounds better after about 5-10 mins if it has not been played for a day or so (it is permanently powered up)

Well, my non-new (but not that old) 52/SC continues to improve since I bought it off NeilW six weeks or so back. It started off well, then lost some HF sparkle, then that came back, then the bass went a bit lean, and I'm just coming through the lean bass phase now (I hope) but otherwise everything is magical.

So, do as they say and kick back & be patient!
