The Opium Cartel

If anyone is after am album that doesn't want to rip your ears off, is centred around really good tunes and yet isn't sappy, then I can thoroughly recomend Night Blooms by The Opium Cartel.
It's basically a solo album by Norwegian band White Willow's Jacob Holm-Lupo plus a bunch of Norwegian, Swedish and British guests (including Tim Bowness, and on Skinnydip our own Stephen Bennett of Fire Thieves and the late, lamented Henry Fool*).
To put it simply, the songs are beautiful, the arrangements simple yet interesting, varied and effective. Not a duff track and top chill. Oh, and they plan to release a vinyl version.
Not for Death Metal freaks!

* for those of you who don't remember Henry Fool's only album to date it was a terrific non-derivative prog album with Tim Bowness et al. Stephen has a double-album's worth of new Fool stuff sitting on his hard drive waiting for him to mix...but there it sits...
