Got my tickets. Anyone else from here going?

Which venue will the Floyd be playing? Hyde Park would have a nice historical resonance...they played there in '68.

And in 70 or 71, when they played "Atom Heart Mother" in full. I recall that Kevin Ayers was on the same bill.

July 70 to be precise as I was there. Kevin Ayers, Lol Coxhill, Edgar Broughton Band, Formerly Fat Harry and Daddy Longlegs also on the bill if memory serves me well. Glorious sunny saturday too. Definately one of the great highlights of my youth.

Yes, those were golden days for us weekend hippies! Kev is a fave of mine too.

Wow Syd, that's impressive recall. Lol Coxhill! Used to see him later in the 70s at the Bracknell Jazz Festival - an extraordinary character.
It was a glorious day and my experience was enhanced by a bag full of my flatmate's "special" cookies!

So, nobody else from here going then. I'll give you all a wave on the telly.

I'm not going as didn't get tickets but intend to get a bottle of wine and sit as close as possible and listen to Pink Floyd 'over the fence' so to speak. Can't say I'm arsed about hearing Madonna, Elton John etc etc.
Hopefully you'll be able to hear it from Kensington Gardens or some such public chill-out area though.

Well Bollocks to you lot. I'm off to Wales to watch Chumbawumba at the Workhouse Festival.

At the risk of missing the point of the whole thing, is there any way to work out when (roughly) a particular act is on; I don't really want to sit through 6 hours of this just to get 20 minutes of pink floyd.

BTW, you can watch the Eden Project on webcast via the BBC - I only reaslised a few minutes ago... My TV reception is so bad that I'm getting better picture and sound than I'm getting from London on BBC2.

I thought the Scissor Sisters were excellent. It's my first experience of them so I may well listen more next week. Any recommendations on what's the best CD to start with?

It looks like you're right, Hawk. I guess that'd be a good place to start then!

Yes, the Scissor Sisters were excellent.
The self titled album is excellent.
The highlight for me so far was Velvet Revolver. Awesome stuff. Although Jonathan Ross seemed a touch shell shocked.
Bring on the Floyd.

Every rock cliche under the sun on display but I actually found Velvet Revolver very enjoyable. Somebody should tell them though that Spinal Tap is really a piss-take.

I'm surprised that Macca's not been mentioned so far. I thought his set was quite wonderful. Helter Skelter for goodness sake. The first heavy metal?
