Phono stage or cartridge problems?

Hi,

Problem: When playing my LP12 through my nait 2 (and Kans) I have to turn the volume up to 2-3 o'clock to get a decent sound level. On CD I never have to go past 9 o'clock. I previously used a nait 3 with MM boards and back then I didn't have this problem. I had to turn up the voulme a couple of steps when playing LPs, but the difference between the two sources wasn't this big. I use a MB High Output MC cartridge (same cartridge with both amps).

Qestions:
Is there a difference in gain between the nait 2 MM-stage and the nait3-MM boards? (5-series?).

Is there a difference in gain between the 3-series and the 5-series MM-boards?

Should I get an external MM-stage for the Nait2 or should I get a new cartridge with higher output level?

Help!

Lars,

are you sure the NAIT3 didn't have MC boards fitted? Much more gain.

Do you happen to remember the board type? 522, 523?

cheers, Martin

P.S. I do know that some high-output MC carts are configured for MM stages.

Martin,

I not a 100% sure, but I think it was 522.

PS. I think that the output of my cartridge is to low, but the dealer I bought it from told me it wouldn't be a problem
