Fair swaps: NAP 140 & Nac 62s?
Posted by: prowla on 13 November 2003
I've got a chrome bumper 140 and 62s (MM phono boards) that are now redundant. And I'd like a Nait 3R (remote version) and a Headline.
Do you think that 140 for Nait 3R and 62s for headline are fair swaps?

per - you're bi-focal!
It's a box matching/convenience thing for a study/playroom...

I'm not sure of the currency values, but it's unfair sonically.
The 62 is essentially the same as the preamp section of the Nait, and the 140 is a lot better than the amp section.
If you really need the Headline and can't buy one out of your current income or capital, then the trade may work for you - but long term, it would be better to wait for the headline until you can afford it.
If it's the remote control you want, why not trade your 62 plus a few pounds for a 92R?
Regards.

Hi, phil
Thanks for the reply.
I know it may sound a bit of an odd "upgrade", so here's my logic...
My system used to be CD3.5 + 62s +140, and then got upgrade-itis.
I've now got a CDX/82/250.
However, I just haven't got around to disposing of the old kit and it's sitting around in a cupboard.
I'd like a system in my study, but the 62/140 would make me listen to it rather than do whatever I'm supposed to be doing. It doesn't match the CD3.5 and it's non remote. So I'm thinking Nait 3R.
On the other hand I'd also like a headphone capability in my main system, hence the headline. Now, If I don't get a headline then I may modify the 62 to be one instead. (I'll need another psu regardless.)
