Burning tracks from HDCD on to computer then back to disc

Posted by: Consciousmess on 02 October 2008

Hi I had to ask this question and I wasn't sure which forum to post in.

I have just bought Dire Straits greatest hits, which is all recorded in HDCD. Now I figure that within the HDCD material I have of them, I could take the tracks out which make up their album "Love Over Gold", but I can rip these tracks to my computer, then burn on to a blank CD.

Would this transference retain the HDCD encoding?

What I mean is, could I use the HDCD material I've just bought and compile an album of my own on CD yet this time have this CD playing back in HDCD?

I'd be immensely grateful if anyone could advise!!

Regards,

Jon

I think the best way is to rip the disc with EAC in secure mode to wav files. Then burn as normal.

You should then have a HDCD disc. However I have never done it so don't know if it works for sure.

Yes. A straight rip preserves the HDCD nature of the source material.
