Cheap source for RCA-DIN cables

Posted by: Eric Barry on 12 December 2001

Folks,

I am looking for a source for inexpensive cables to connect non-Naim sources to Naim pre's. Markertek sells a 4-RCA to DIN cable for $6.95. Anything else?

To add,

anyone know of any cheap Canadian sources? I've got a bitchin' Sansui TU-9900 tuner that's been neglected ever since Naim came into the household.

In the UK Maplins sell cheap 4 RCA - 5 pin DIN cables and I use these for connecting some of my less important sources (video, tuner etc.).

Is this what I would need to connect my Nait3/Flatcap to a non-Naim amp? Does the connection to the amp come from the Flatcap?

I have the following interconnects for such and occasion (BTW I am asking on behalf of someone to whom I am selling a 62/140):

The 6.95 ones are cheapo far east productions. They sound a bit zippy.

True Blue (I think that's what this is--it was bought at Pro Musica in Chicago for about $40) sounds fat and has a bit of edge in the top treble. They have gold-colored RCAs.

I have some black ones with silver colored multi-piece connectors that came with a 32-5 I bought used. These are more transparent than the True Blue but not as fat sounding.

Also a grey set that came with used 42. These I use on my TV and I haven't compared.

I got excellent results when I cut up bottom of the line Audioquests, and soldered direct to the cd player, but the connection eventually broke, and I've since moved on to a CD5.

When I bought my 102, the dealer gave me a True Blue cable for my tuner and a Naim cable for my Karik/Numerik, and I had them reversed for a while. When I got them sorted out--damn, what a differencein the CD player! The True Blue is adequate for a fair-to-middling tuner, but it's not a Naim cable by a long shot.
