Having just heard this on Radio Paradise, hence the above question.

There's quite a few on The Beautiful South's Golddiggas album - from Don't Fear the Reaper to You're The One That I Want - all fantastic.

The Be Good Tanyas version of Prince's When Dove's Cry. Very good, but unexpected.

Mark Kozelek 'What's Next to the Moon'
Perhaps not unlikely when you know his work, but a very gentle acoustic album of covers of the Bon Scott period of AC/DC. Apparently Brian Johnson really likes the way he sings the tracks.

Some actually rather good ones on here - and I dont think I'm aware of anyone who sings on it :-
Suppers Ready, a tribute to Genesis.

Luther Wright and the Wrongs - Rebuild the Wall
Pink Floyd's The Wall, done with a country twang. It's nae bad!

I suppose we ought to include the Trance versions of Floyd albums too.

A pretty good effort, that beats SeƱor Coconut's Latino Kraftwerk/MJ covers, for sure.

What a wonderful station Radio Paradise is....
...anyway my nomination has to be Richard Thompson's cover of Britney's "Oops!...I Did It Again".
Also, I know everyone knows it but William Shatner doing "Lucy In The Sky" takes some beating.

The Monkees' "I'm A Believer" and Chic's "At Last I Am Free" both covered by Robert Wyatt. The latter is especially wonderful.

I still remember the first time Terry Hemmert from Chicago's taste-maker FM rock station WXRT played Twisted Sister's cover of "Leader of the Pack." She said "Now we don't normally play bands like 'Twisted Sister', but you have to listen to this!"
