Humming CD 3.5

..OK, I know, it's just happy to be a CD 3.5, but the hum is really loud. It's mechanical hum from the transformer rather than mains based hum - and, did I say? - it's really loud! Any tips for reducing this without cocking up the sound?

actually on this point I got a CD player last weekend, anyhoo I checked it out at my girlfriends parents and marveled at how silent the whole unit was, totaly silent.

well I got it home and plugged it in a hummmmmmm. I suppose this comes down to the power in the house, and presumably its what you suffer too.

A dedicated power line to your hifi might help, unfortuantely this is not possible for me.

The hi & 140 don't hum at all - they are @10 years old. I've just got the 3.5 back from naim & I'm loath to send it back!
