I can recommend The Low Anthem - played that one a lot and really like Blue Roses ( a little bit of a Kate Bush/folk feel to it) as well.

I am going to check out McAlmont and Nyman.

I recommend Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors. It's a strange, messy ragbag of an album that somehow works. Were I to compile a top ten albums of 2009, this would be my token rock/pop entry. Winker

One that seemed to miss all the 'Best Of' lists, and indeed all the reviews and hype when released was The Lightning Seeds 'Four Winds'. Not outstanding but Ian Broudie still has a whole heap of good tunes.

I agree re The Low Anthem too.
