Altenative (passive) to SBL

Sorry to say so, but my wife thinks my SBLs are not the most beautiful speakers on earth.
However, I love their sound (system 3.5/102/Napsc/Hicap/180) and see no reason to swap them. Still I would love to make my wife happy and am now looking for something less black and less bulky. Any suggestions? Obviously I am looking for speakers that will at least sound as much lively and dynamic as my SBLs. How about Linn?

In my view SBLs are one of the most good-looking speakers on earth. Not only because they are just different...

I suggest you sell um and wind in a pair of cherries or walnut, any one who says they are ugly has weird tastes.

You are unlikely to find a more discrete box which fits up against the wall than an SBL.
Why not sell the black version and go for a wood veneer type which may blend in more with your decor.
You will regret it if you sell them.

Thanks a lot for your advice. That's what I told my wife. Hey, listen love, they stand right to the wall which is much more preferable than to have them stand 1 metre into the room...
However, changing the veneer is probably the best option. Only problem: Does anybody know anyone who owns sbls in maple and rather have them in black?
I am also very glad that no one proposed to sell my wife :-). She IS imho the most beautiful wife on earth.

I don't think they ever made them in maple. I'd love a pair in maple, though.
As concerns the sound ... I'm not an expert on speakers, but I do believe that if you love the sound SBLs produce you won't find anything in that price bracket that will give you even half the enjoyment.
