Anybody out there with experience of Opera Super Pavarotti Speakers??

After recently upgrading my 13 year old Japanese system to a Naim CD5 112/150, i've decided i should probably also change my 8 year old Tannoy 633 profile speakers. They had served me well, but i now consider that they are lacking something (probably base/depth), and also i dont know if its right having £2500 of hifi going through £250 of speakers. So i imagine these are probably my bottleneck.

Anyways, i have only just started looking and saw at the dealers a pair of Opera Super Pavarotti speakers. Although i am not going to buy a pair of speakers based on their looks (however it will help to pursuade the missus that i can have a new pair), these are ideal for my relatively small living room, and are also in the identical wooden finish to match the fireplace etc, as well as being in the £1000 approx range i am looking at spending.

Before i demo them i was hopping to get anybody else's experience with these speakers, as i am new to Naim and it seems that some types of speakers work well with Naim, where as others just dont fit the bill. So if anybody else has tried them please let me know. Or if there are other suggestions for speakers within the £1000 ish range i would like to hear about them.

Thanks

Craig.

Maybe you should try a flatcap2 first to power your cdplayer and preamp. You might get a pleasant surprise.

Good luck

Thanks for that Bjorne, as it happens i am taking delivery of one next week, after demoing the FC2 and finding that it does indeed make a big difference. I am also buying it as i have a new headline on the way, and want the FC2 to power the CD5 and 112, and the headline to then take its power from the 112 (unless somebodies got a better idea??(cant stretch to a NAPSC now either)).

People out there with setups similar to mine, what speakers do you have/recommend please????

Spendors have a nice range of "classic" speakers, they have a relaxed sound as some say. I find my 2/3s to be quite wonderful, warm and full bass, and in your price range I think. I currently run a CD5, P3 TT, and Caspian tuner thru a 92r, powered by a 150 amp. Similar to your system. Since I'm over the pond. I don't know what prices they sell for in pounds but give them a try.
