For 5.1 audio, as far as I know there is only one way and that's to use the digital optical connection. For video, use component.

Hi Scotty, I'm a Hammer too. I have an Xbox 360connected to my all Naim system including AV2 into a Pioneer Plasma box. As noted by Allan the best connections are component and digital optical for sound, the feed for which is located on the component cable.
The main reason for this post is that I have my Xbox connected to my PC and using Media Connect I am able to stream music through to my Naim system, obviously this is not up to my CDS3 quality but is OK. I use it to trial albums before I buy, using a Napster subscription (£9.95pm)for unlimited downloads on my PC. I used to buy around 20 CD's a month but I am now able to be far more selective. A major advancement for me.

Yep - component & optical is the best available option - odd cable too. The xBox 360 component cable has separate leads for component, plus composite video, and also stereo left & right. There's a socket in the base of the xBox end of the connector itself which allows digital optical connection for the sound, but you need to buy the optical cable separately: pic

There's a few 3rd party connectors on the market too, which work in the same way. Monster make one of these, called the Gamelink - can't vouch for the quality though, as I'm just using the Microsoft one.
