Hi Nuno,

Not sure of all of them off the top of my head, but there's Brillian Trees, Secrets of the Beehive, Gone to Earth, plus all of the the Japan albums and some collaborations with other artists. I can have a look through my collection tomorrow if you like and list some more. Regards
Terry

Hi!
Look for: "Gone to earth" and "Secret of the behive" which are, in my opinion, his best.
If you take a look at that url there's a lot of other interesting things as well!

Enjoy!

I have the CD he did with Robert Fripp called The First Day, which is superb and I highly recommend.

Also, if you're into downloads, try EZT (www.easytree.org) where you can, if you're a member, download gigs for free and legally).

There are a number of gigs there, best of which is IN PRAISE OF SHAMANS, a superb quality and complete soundboard recording of Sylvian's legendary gig at Hammersmith on 30th May 1988. It was a really special occasion (I was there!!) and is well worth tracking down. Material was taken from BT, GTE and SOTB and the band included David Torn, Richard Barbieri, Steve Jansen, Robbie Aceto, Richard Maidman, Mark Isham etc etc

I'll second that! The First Day is great. The CD "Damaged" is from the tour of The First Day, another must hear.

I have all his stuff, but Secrets Of The Beehive and Brilliant Trees really stand out.
Look out for Rain Tree Crow, the "reformed", Japan album from 1991, it has some wonderful songs on it particularly Cries and Whispers and Blackwater.
There is also a quite good quality bootleg of his Blemish show in Brussels from Nov 03.

I bet you don't have Steel Cathedrals. Cool
I've also got the original 1985 Alchemy: An Index of Possibilities cassette. I think it was available for approx 1 month on cassette only and then withdrawn due to the background hiss they couldn't get rid of. Probably worth a small fortune now! (Fiver anyone?).

Indeed I do have the orig Alchemy on cassette, Steel Cathedrals and the much sought after Weatherbox amongst many others.
Japan were my favourite group of the 80s, they just stood out quality wise and were probably more influential than people realise, just look at how Talk Talk progressed/improved from synth pop to aural soundscapes.

Blimey Alex!! I'm impressed Smile
I haven't got Weatherbox. Is the reworking of Alchemy any different? (apart from no background hiss of course Winker )

Hiss is still in evidence but not too intrusive, have been listening to it in the sunshine this afternoon excellent !
The reissue from last year also includes Steel Cathedrals.
Did you see him on the Blemish tour ?
Posted on: 18 March 2005 by Rasher
No. I'd forgotten about him to be honest.
