Upgrade Path

Hello

I am new to Naim having just purchased a Naim Nait 5. My source is a Rega Planet 2000 with Jmlab Opal 615 speakers. I am using Naim speaker cable with a Van Damme interconnect (preferred by Creative Audio, Shrewsbury).

If I was strarting again I would probably audition a CD5 (probably 2nd hand) against the Rega. However I am not really in a position to buy a CD5 just yet. I was thinking of adding a Flatcap 2 to the Nait.

Would I get a noticeable sonic improvement adding the Flatcap 2 or would I be better saving up for the CD5 first (I would then still want the Flatcap 2 though for the CD5)?

Thanks in advance.

I'd save up for the CD5.

Upgrades are a licence to throw away hard-earned clams if you're not careful.

Hey, the Planet is totally tyhe best if you can't have a CD5, but make your upgrade worth it!!!

If the upgrade bug has bitten, going to a CD5 is a logical step from a Planet. You'll be going from one best in class player to another. External power supply will make a big difference, so a FC now equals improvment now much happiness in the future if a CD5 comes along.
