I've used a kettle lead. I've used a sooper dooper expensive lead. They both worked.

stephen, you'll not get many (useful) answers in the music room.
Adam will move you somewhere else, I'm sure...

I was once loaned a very expensive after market mains lead, which certainly produced a change in the resultant sonority. Not for the better I might add. Unfortunately tea was not improved either!
This has been discussed before and a short search will soon reveal that most think that Naim supply an idea lead in the original outfit.

Expensive mains cables, ICs and speaker cables have one thing in common - they are a waste of money IMHO; with the possible exception being the HiLine IC which is made especially by Naim for its equipment. Just use what comes in the box.

Well, all you can go by is experience. If you read every message in the forum on the subject you'll just see them that does and them that doesn't.
As for me. I put a Supra mains cable on my '70's Yamaha tuner (replacing the original 'fixed' cable) and it made a major difference that was an improvement. I put an expensive vdh mains cable (although 25% discounted at one of the Heathrow shows)on my TT and that made a huge and beneficial difference over the kettle lead originally supplied with it, absolutely night and day. I have tried both on my Naim gear, there was certainly a difference but not an improvement, so kept Naim mains cables.

They certainly make a difference - most of which is to be had from RF exclusion techniques (twisting and/or shielding, active). The impedance is also in there of course, and Naims seem to be super-sensitive to this, so use a high cross-sectional area cable.
Try SY cable with the "armour" connected to earth at the equipment end. That'll blitz what you get in the box and cost about £2.50.

Or if you really want to go off the deep end buy a Shunyata Hydra and a full set of Shunyata Python Helixes. Absurdly good and would change the mind of any closed minded "cables don't make a difference" person. Govt Health Warning - can seriously damage your financial well-being.

Adam
Please move or lock this thread or, better still, delete it. We just don't need another 'mains cable' thread, especially not in the Music Room.
Thanking you, in anticipation.

Calm down dear!

I'm perfectly calm, just bored rigid by this topic yet again, and on the wrong forum. And, yes, I know that I don't need to open it.
