A Thread To Look At And Wince!

Dear Friends,

If anyone doubted that the Ancienne Rgime was less civilised than what we have now, have a look at this.

In many ways it raises important points, but also shows that Forum Manners are far better observed nowadays, though perhaps there is less cut and thrust...

Hope you are not opening old wounds of yours. I felt the different factions put this to bed the first time around.

Dear Geoff,

No I am not opening any old wounds of mine. In a way that old thread is a good read! In fact it is much more polite than I remember it as well.

As ususal it is fascinating to see how mouch one still says much the same sort of thing (though hopefully saying it better), and to what extent one's position evolves over time.

I still think that it was, on balance, a positive thread!

Dear Fredrik

I read this thread long time ago a bit post festum, since it predated my arrival to this forum. It was BTW RdS who drew my attention to the Naim forum, and then he left himself!
As to the view-points expressed by you and RdS in the thread, I can“t but fully agree with every word, as you surely may figure out.

Kind regards,

Dear pe-zulu,

I doubt if I would argue it that way now, but it certainly was bracing! The lesson I learned was that there are all shades of opinion, and that nothing is absolutley right, though somethings are absolutely wrong!

The thing I find here is that even more than my personally known musical friends, I learn even more here than from anywhere, even though there is no substitute for learning from scores and comtemporary sources as a starting point, but sometimes fresh ideas must come from outside...

It all adds to my pleasure from the Old Music!
