As you know I want a new cd player!Which are the main differences between cd 3.5 and 5?And which is best?

The CD3.5 is quite a bold and musical player with excellent tune and timing. I tcan be a bit relentless though, and can overhype the leading edges to present the music alost as a kind of caricature. It is definitely the fun machine of the two though.
The CD5 is a smoother beast with better image focus than the 3.5. It is perhaps a little more laid-back too. This is perhaps the grown-up version of the 3.5.
On balance, I prefer the CD5, but it is a close call.
I have also found 3 and 5 series components to mix exceedingly well!
Regards,
Steve.
The proof of the pudding...

Nuno,
Words on a screen can't convey the Naim sound. Can you get to a dealer? What do you hear during a dem?
Regards.

Nuno,
You've got to make your own decision here. Do you know any of us on the forum? If not, how can you evaluate anybody's comments?
You may think that something may be so if everybody agrees - but there's no absolute unanimity on the forum.
Personally, I wouldn't buy anything unheard unless it was very low cost. Others are willing to gamble on a used piece of equipment because they feel they can sell it for what they spent.
I understand your uncertainty. You have only limited options - listen, and buy what you like and can afford vs. buy on speculation and hope for the best.
Personally, I like vinyl. For CDs, I like the CDS. I DISlike the 3.5 far more than I dislike the CD5/FC2...but these are my values and ears talking. A CDS costs more than a CD5/FC2 and a CDS is probably hard to find in Portugal.
Best of luck.
Phil
