Anyone see Magazine last night?

At the Festival Hall.

First set was a complete performance of The Correct Use Of Soap (of which "I Want To Burn Again" was the undoubtred highlight;; and "Stuck", my fave Magazine tune, was the biggest disappointment).

The second half was a real connoisseur's delight, with the obscure 1980 single "Upside Down" making its live debut, and "The Book", which featured Dave Formula on the RFH's organ and Devoto intoning from a lecturn. There was also a scorching, out-there "20 Years Ago" and a gorgeous "Parade" played on a grand piano.

The highlight of the whole gig was the last three songs - "The Light Pours Out Of Me", "Definitive Gaze" and "Give Me Everything", which really saw the band ignite and get the punters dancing in the aisles.

Awesome band.

Any other forumites go?

Yep, I was there.

'Soap' is my favourite Magazine album but I felt it didn't quite work all through live. Devoto's brief hints about record care made me laugh though.

The second set was brilliant and just got better and better as you said.

Spotted Robert Wyatt in the Royal box, he seemed to be enjoying it.

I was sat just behind the renowned designer Peter saville, whose girlfriend was unbelievable. Lucky sod!

I loved the stuff about record care too Seagull - especially the bit about never lending your records to friends! Big Grin

I agree with you about not all of Soap came off live.
