R.I.P cd singles?

What is more worrying is the article on the next page, they are going to make a second series of 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles'.

Why, the first was devoid of plot, character, acting and any hint of imagination.

A huge waste of Summer Glau's abilities as an actress, and now sucking in Shirley Manson.

I know the catch phrase was "I'll be back", but this time we really would rather they didn't bother.

I can't say I'll miss CD singles. I'd rather wait until an album comes out than waste money on a single.

Interestingly though 7" singles are on the increase, albeit modestly. A number of lesser-known artists have released singles only on 7" and not on CD and it is seen by some as a trendy thing to have. Speaking to a surprisingly helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgable assistant in the local Zavvi in Northampton, she said they were planning to bring back a section dedicated to them in the store. In the course of the conversation it turned out her husband had recently made a trip to Cymbiosis in Leicester as well ; there's hope for the younger generation yet!

Agree with you, never much cared for CD singles.

Very occasionally, I find I like a single by an artist that I would normally run a mile from, for example Christina Aguilera - I certainly wouldn't want an entire album by her, but I found I did like her song "Beautiful" (maybe the video got to me?) so I bought the single for a fraction of the cost of the whole CD.

OK, so maybe only one single every two years or so, but for one track, I'd rather buy the single than download the crappy quality MP3....

There are also the odd case where there is no album, "The Potbelleez" for example, who had a hit in Australia last year with "Don't Hold Back" - again, I bought the single.....

Low-res downloads win again.

A bit like the 12" single the CD single offered an outlet for remixes and spare tracks not found on albums. Unlike the 12" though there was no sound improvement.
