Hello all,

Look at those their evo 40's in maple veneer Mmmmmmm MMMm mmmm, (back page of what hi-fi) I like the look of.... ohh yes i do!

However, anybody heard them????

Initial reviews seem to be most favourable....

It's price does concern me though (top of the range evo 40 is £750) without the risk of sounding like a hi-fi snob is it a
....cheapo speaker tring to be something it isn't?

Or a dam hot bargin??

I fell a dem comin on! If anybody else is in the same situ please share your experiences!

Cheers for now Smile

Hi Matt,
I,ve just bought Evo 30s and they are just fab. Finish and detail to design is awsome for the price and most importantly sound is rich detailed and extended and just so bloomin musical,(you,ve just got to get past the preconceptions of Wharfedale!)

Has anyone listened to the entry level standmounters?
Nice design - would look nice with my widescreen TV.
Oh and are they magnetically shielded?

Hi Matt
I saw the review of the 30s after i bought them and thought wow i actually agree with you for a change.I find What Hifi pretty light weight now , too AV orientated and they rave about any and every Mission speaker!

My system as of today is CDI 102 NAPSC (just sold my 32.5,getting much more air space soundstageand clarity, but thats another story, no harshness!!) Hicap and old bolt together 250.

The speakers respond well to removing grills.I have not even attempted moving them about until the 102 warms up and they are run in a bit.Once that allsettles i am going to try out my 3 dedicated spurs(each 2x 6mm )as i think the additional clarity will stay within acceptable harshness levels.

My room is 12 ft x 24ft, speakers firing down room. My problem is patience!!

Hey dave,

Glad to hear the speakers are going well!!

I took the liberty of checking your public profile: You used to have 804's aren't they quite a bit more expensive than the evo's...why did you change them??

My room sounds similiar in proportions to your own, have you tried positioning your speakers so they fire across the width of the room? I have mine set up this way & to my ears sounds better for it!

However as you are aware I am looking to change my speakers. I am currently using the following kit:

CDX/XPS
82/napsc/Hicap
180
NacA5
Slightly modified Epos ES11/12.

C :Cheers for now Big Grin

Hi Matt,
sorry for not comming back to you on that one, without wanting discuss my personal finances , i had a classic cash flow crises(we were in the middle of a conversion) and had to release cash. Then being speakerless i sought out a pair of Isobariks(something i had always wanted to try because of their cult status)

No matter what i tried i could not get the Briks to work to my satisfaction in my room.
One evening when my wife and i were listening to music it came to a head, we looked at each other and i said words to the effect"f@#* this" Next morning off to Robert Ritchie Hifi in Montrose with budget set by my wife. She came to keep me inline.

I had previously shortlisted Kef Q7, andB&W603sAnd Quad somthings. Robert sugested i listen to the Evo 30s and i could tell it was something special, funnily enough it was the dullest sounding speaker i heard ie not bright or forward. We went home with ared cherry pair and changed them the next day for beech . I know the N804 are superior but these things are just sooo enjoyable in their own way.
