Sansui CDP/72/Supercap - It did work.

About a month ago I asked about the wisdom of putting a Supercap on a 72. The advice I got was generally in favour so I went ahead and the Supercap is now doing duty.
During the course of that thread a question arose as to the wisdom of keeping an old Sansui CDP at the front end while adding a Supercap. In the end I decided adding the PSU first better fitted my long-term plans than getting a new CDP first. All that remained was to see if the Supercap exposed weaknesses in the Sansui.
I said at the time that I was prepared to admit if I got it wrong but luckily for me I will not have to. The combination is going wonderfully with the to-be-expected improvements and the removal of a lingering small issue with prolonged base notes at one or two mid-base frequencies (neither the CDP nor the room/speakers were the culprit). The PSU has shown that the old Sansui was extracting even more information from the CD than I realised and my respect for it has increased rather than diminished. Now, just so long as it doesn’t die of old age before I get my CDX2….
