Bring Yo *** To The Table

Not really sure what that means (American I expect), but it is the title of Left Lane Cruiser's long player ('LP').

It's on Alive Records which music lovers will recognise as being the original label of Peel favourites The Black Keys.

If you like drum/guitar duos (e.g. White Stripes, Black Keys) or you like lots of raucous slide guitar, then this could be your cup of tea. It's thoroughly decent and mine's on coloured vinyl.

I believe the Alive Records website has mp3 samples of their wares if you're interested. And you should be really. It's most enjoyable stuff.

On another matter, can anyone recommend a radio show where you can hera good quality new music? I was a regular John Peel listener and since his very sad death have lost touch with what's going on. Has an alternative emerged in the John Peel mould? Please tell.

All songs considered covers pretty left field stuff aswell as just bloody good music such as Radiohead. The host Bob Boilen has one of the most recognisable voices on radio and is so passionate about intelligent music

........................and Morning becomes Eclectic which I find a bit too left field for my mellowing tastes.

Both shows do podcasts which can be bounced into itunes on a weekly basis.

Enjoy the Forum.

Thank you for the tips Diccus. Morning Becomes Eclectic mentions the Black Keys so that sounds promising.

Anymore alternatives to the mighty John Peel anyone? Even my local record shop has closed, so that source has gone too.

I need new music.

Diccus,

Thanks for the links. God knows how I will find the time to listen to even more sources of new music, but still! I enjoyed listening to the Portishead Guest DJ show and have subscribed to the podcasts.

Ghettoyout,

I too miss John Peel. I don't think there is a true alternative to him at least in the UK. You could try subscribing to the Rough Trade Shop's Album Club though. I've found they've made some excellent recommendations and you would also be supporting an independent record shop!

Thank you for the tip regarding the Album Club. It looks most promising. The listen feature appeals the most.

I find that you have to hear music yourself rather than rely on reviews.
