Here are several pics of my Isobariks.
Note: once you've clicked the thumbnail to get an image you can get a higher-res version by clicking the image again.
(They're for sale, if anyone is interested!)
cheers, Martin

Are KEF B139's, which are 13" long by 9" wide.
The mids are KEF B110's and the tweeters are either Scanspeaks or Hiquphon's depending upon the vintage.
Both the B139 and the B110 are out of production. IIRC I do believe KEF is using another racetrack woofer dimensioned at 16x9 and called - you guessed it B169.

Thanks for the photos, I'd forgotten just how goddamn ugly the Briks are (regardless of how good they sound).
How come no one has come up with the idea of selling acoustically clear curtains to Brik owners?

Are 'real speakers' not all that shape?

Mr Subeke
I now actually own the wooden veneer Briks shown earlier in the thread. I bought them a few months ago and they are immaculate.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and in my situation of a largish room with predomanantly mahogony furniture, they actually look good.
They are imposing, so they are more difficult to blend in with the general decor. My wife quite likes them now.
I think the models with a cloth enclosure at the bottom look awful and I could never live with that.
Also I think they would look great in piano black if they were in the right setting.
Regards
Mick

Gary
I shall get my son to take some pics with this bloody digital camera tomorrow.
Hopefully you will then change your mind.

Must be an age thing! Like Mick I am 50+years old and I actually like the look of Isobariks. Perhaps age brings with it a more open-minded attitude to 'fashion' in speaker design.

When I first saw them, I thought 'Briks were ugly. I now find them beautiful.
When I first tasted it, I thought beer was terrible. I now find it delicious.
Aesthetic judgments -- mine at least -- are apparently vulnerable to change through a linkage with pleasure.

Mick,
I have to disagree with you there.
There open-frame stands don't look that pretty, but the panels make them look much more like a floor-standing speaker, i.e. all of a piece.
In fact, why didn't Linn make them as floor standers in the first place?
cheers, Martin
