Less than a week to go Smile

This thread should give the English members of the forum a chance to 'bang on' about how wonderful their team is before the All Blacks have to burst the bubble by soundly kicking England's bum Wink

Any Australians on this forum??

A boring game is a boring game, no matter who you support. Scotland have been so crap (and crap to watch) of late that the only games I watched were against Fiji and then the QF.

And BTW I'm only half-Scots as my mum is English.

F*ck no - I'll put my cards on the table now, I'll be hoping & praying for an Aussie win in the final. The media reaction to an English win doesn't bear thinking about...

Still at least you got the gold in Curling. Wink

I think you'll find Simon that the curling was a British victory -- at least according to the usual rules of The Official BBC Anti-Scotish Media Conspiracy.

And I think you'll find Matthew that we don't all buy into that conspiracy shite.

Scots tend to be surprised when they meet individual English people and find: 1) You don't actually have horns growing out of your head 2) You're not all fey, inept, inbred soap-dodgers 3) You're much more fun when you're pissed off 4) We really like your women, and it's mutual.

I'll be supporting England and have no shame in admitting that. I'd do the same in cricket - but that's about as far it goes.Smile

Good on-yer Alan! I supported all the home nations in the rugby world cup (except, of course, for Wales against England), even though it was probably in England's best interest for them to lose and let the draw work out as it has.

Ireland came so close to beating Australia.

Wales put on a good show against NZ (and England).

And Scotland played better than we had any right to expect.

They only real disappointment was Ireland's display against France. It was all over by half-time.

I think she was from the west coast mate - they're all like that over there.

Subject: FW: Whinging Aussies

Time to rig an Aussie internet poll!

Follow the link below to rate England's performance on the Sydney Morning
Herald web site. Go to this link http://smh.com.au/polls/sport/form.html
http://smh.com.au/polls/sport/form.html and vote that England were "Scintillating",
then pass this message on to as many England rugby fans as you know.

The Aussie Pomie bashing of "dull, dull, dull" has reduced from 72% to 8% of
the votes already! If we can make Scintillating the top rating then it's
certainly going to confuse the Aussies (not difficult I'm sure.) Get voting
and pass it along.

More than 27,000 English have voted to fix the poll......Scintillating is
now 83 % - Democracy in action!

Piss² I always found the term Scotch-Brit rather confusing ? Second Row Fritz

Excellent.

Seems 83% though 'Scintillating' in the end.

These Aussies certainly know their rugby. Wink

Unfortunately most Aussies don't know their Gregan's from their Larkham's where rugby is concerned.

Just before the tournament started a Kiwi journo wandered the streets of Melbourne with a film crew and a large glossy photo of George Gregan asking people "you recognize this guy?".

Most accurately spotted that he was a "sportsman" (he did have a Wallaby shirt on in the photo) but also had no freakin clue who he was...

"Is he a soccer player?" was a pretty typical response. Confused

To think these people already have 2 World Cups and a crack at a third on the weekend!

Prediction time.

Low scoring nailbiter between two nervous and defensive teams. England shade it 12-9. Maybe.

Prediction:

Australia: 23

England: 24

I see it being a tight, forward dominated, game with Australia outscoring England on the try front but a certain Mr Wilkinson kicking the points (maybe a drop goal in there).

A nail-biter definitely.

Weather forecast for Sydney tonight is 80% chance of rain, 25km winds and around 16 degrees temp.

Sounds ideal for England

I'll stake my reputation as a rugby expert on the Wallybees winning tonight by a fairly convincing margin.

What a cracking match - fantastic effort from both teams, but the best team won on the night.

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you feel a bit of a twat now, Matthew?

The most consistent defence in the competition won it!
If England had not have had so many knock-ons they would have won by a mile.
Wilko is da man.
Superb game - and high risk rugby from an England team - you saw it today with long line-outs, passing to the outside and brill position kicking.
And the best thig about it all is

WE ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS!

Congrats to England - great game, one of the best.

See u in 4 years!
