3.5 Help its not doing anything!

My brother picked up his CD3.5 a couple of days ago, its been going fine until today when it refuses to read any disks. I've done the blue-tack thing and rotated the rubbers, all to no avail
Anybody got any suggestions?

Martin,
When it won't read a disk do you get an error indication on the display.

Yes it comes up with the Err message and I can hear that the disk is not spining

Can you here the disk making very odd noises when it firsts goes in, or to the best of your knowledge is it not spinning at all?
