have not heard the AVI ref thing but for £200 you can pick up a 2nd hand Rega Planet - fab VFM.

Minime. What is your budget? Also not sure a Planet will be an improvement. What makes you not happy with your current CDplayer? Never heard anything from AVI, all I know is that the company has a rather good reputation.

minime !
Why hurry anyway!?
I don't believe that there is much better player than your AVI for buck around.
Naim is certainly better, so be patient, try to get some money in the near future, sell AVI and buy CD5.

ozren i had a 3.5 with flatcap and i found the sound lacking in bass when i plugged in the avi i liked it better with my non-naim amp.
i have heard the cd5 is slighly warmer than a 3.5 but still looked at this as a sideway's step. maybe a s/h cdx . better get saving

I've heard that the CDX lacks bass until you add a power supply but can't confirm this.

quote:If your AVI sounds better than a 3.5/flatcap in your sistem I think you will have to spend a lot to improve on it. Are your speakers biwireable? If so maybe you could try to add another poweramp.
