Summer beer

Get in your car, drive to Asda and stock up on these. Imported Belgian beer by Asda, 5% and very nice indeedy thank you very much. £2.98 for a four-pack. Good clean taste with a bite and that balanced bit of flavour as a mid-term and after-taste.
Bit of a bargain I'd say. Now don't drink it all at once!!

There is something very similar from Aldi called Saint Etienne that IIRC is £2.79. Nice it is too.

Don't know Aldi. Is that a Midlands thing?

It could be Audi. I've checked their website but I can't find any beer, unless it's under servicing? Could you provide a link Steve?

I haven't bought any lager type beer in UK for years. Whenever I'm running short I get a cheap day trip to France (£30 is the going rate for a Saturday) and load up on the Stella or Kronenburg. Most of the big hypermarkets so it at around €8 for 24 x 25cl bottles - roughly 50p per pint. It tastes better than the UK brewed versions and also means I can stock up on some quaffing wine, Bon Maman jam, decent hot chocolate (although the new Green&Blacks is good), some stinky cheese etc. On the last trip I also got some Old Speckled Hen on the boat at 50p per 500ml can - bargain.
With 20 or so crates in the back of the car I reckon I'm well up on the deal.
Phil

Factor in a lost day's work at £120/hour and I think you aren't.

Ok I know I'm being cliched' here but ...given this is NAIM web-site (ie for people who understand why such real hifi is better than mass produced audio gear) why are we discussing cheap lager? ...surely most posters on here understand that bottles of real ale are
....A/ much more tasty, and satisfying than "lager"
...B/ quite affordable in most off licenses these days ( I bought 4 bottles of real ale for £5.00 at my local "Offy" tonight)
Am I a snob? ..or just right? ....

You're not a snob.
But you cant drink expensive (at least here) beer all the time.

I drink real ales during the winter months and nice fizzy refreshing lager when the sun comes out. Favourite beer= Banana Bread Beer from morrisons/Tesco etc. Fruity banana flavour dark beer 5.2% (liquid bread being the norsk name for beer apparently), summer drinks I prefer something nice and crisp such as the fosters/Bud ice lagers etc. Not really too choosy. I might even venture into the designer world of Magners cider this summer. If I was stuck on a desert island and could only take one beer it would be Erdinger weissbeir. Yummy.

Since our trip to Brugse last year we have been mostly drinking these.......
The only brewery left in Brugse itself, the "Half Moon" and it has a very refreshing, sweetish - peaches/bubble gum tastes (which is better than it sounds) and it packs a bit of a punch at 6% too....
When we got home we were over the moon (pun intended) that we could buy then via the web - http://www.specialitybeermerchants.com/B5064

Blimmin' funny isn't it. Everyone's been drinking the stuff in vast quantities in Northern Ireland for ever, and now it's a "Designer" drink now it's come to Britain. Funny old world.
