Naim repairs. Waranteed?

Posted by: Shayman on 23 March 2003

Hello

Can anyone let me know whether Naim repairs have a warantee?

My CD3 had a new laser and mechanism fitted less than a month ago and today the new one seems to have gone. There is a loud, fast clicking from the mechanism as the disc spins and the music sounds like it does when you press fast forward (>>Wink.

I'll be in contact with my dealer tomorrow but would like to think I won't have to shell out more on top of the £314 it cost to repair 1 month ago.

My basic knowledge of consumer law tells me that the dealer that "repaired" the kit should actualy do so if he has charged you for doing the job - right now, it seems like he has not completed it or there is an equipment failure, so the equipment is not of merchantable quality and so should be replaced free of charge.

Rather than go in all guns blazing, IMO most dealers are nice guys and I would be surprised if anything other than a free repair / replacement is offered. Good service = good reputation = more customers = more profit.

Let us know, would you?

Regards

Mike

Jonathan,
As Mike has sugested you should return your kit back to your dealer. It has been my experance that all Naim dealers would if you will excuse the French " bust a gut " to make sure the customer was satisfied with their service , in fact I seem to remember that it was one of the requirments of becoming a Naim Dealer, that the "deal was'nt done"until the customer was completly satisfied.
