Colin Blunstone aka Neil MacArthur

Posted by: John M on 09 September 2005

Last week in my favorite vinyl shop I had one of those "nah...can't be" experiences when I heard a very familiar and well loved voice singing a very familiar and well loved song...and being stunned that I was unaware that the two had ever met. It was a great version of Nilsson's "Without Her" with the unmistakeable voice of Colin Bluntstone. So went to the guy behind the counter and said "was that Colin Blunstone??" and he knowingly smiled and said "sort of...it's Neil MacArthur, his alter-ego" "Can I buy it?" I said. "Sorry, my disc, not the store's. Got the 45 in Turkey" and he showed me the Turkish pressing Deram 45.

The point is need it, must have it. Willing to settle for CD version for now. Anyone know where to find it. Heard about a Deram Collection on CD that has a bunch of his singles onnit. Cant find it on AMG. Help, clarity, mercy, anyone? Offer more info, corrections, opposing points of view?

TIA

John

If it helps. I know that when Colin left the Zombies he recorded three singles in 1969 = one of these was Don't Try To Explain and the b=side was Without Her. It was on the Deram label (DM202). I'm not aware of it being on any compilations. Can anybody help?

Why not ask the man himself? Check out Nov 25th. Some amazing bands here in the near future.
Ah,,, but on the other hand you have a slight way to travel! If I get a chance I will ask for you!!
